jtwizzler2Any creature that has the confidence to carry off a head like a badly bruised scrotum deserves a bit of repect……, so lets hear it for the Turkey.

Slow roasted with a handful of chestnuts up it’s bum it can be a thing of great beauty, but when still walking around itย  is, without doubt, one of the most un-appetising creatures I think I’ve ever seen……

The distance from A to B is as long as the distance from B to A. So from their point of view, we might be the ugly ones ๐Ÿ™‚

But Gawd Amighty, what great colors! We have lots of wild turkeys roaming the living history museum grounds where I work. Their broods are about 10-12 chicks at a time! They are cute when they’re little (but aren’t we all?).

      Turkey chicks are cute……no argument..
      Kittens ? cute.
      Puppies ? cute.
Human babies ? hmmmmmmm. Sorry, no.

Even I, devastatingly attractive since the age of 18 months, verged on the repulsive when newly launched……

The intrepid Mr Shpics thinks nothing of risking life and limb for a shot…….I was but two feet away from its snapping jaws !!!
      (aaah..crusty loaf…chestnut puree….smidgeon of cranberry..thick slice of leg meat….HEAVEN !!)

Snapping jaws, not quite. But when a turkey steps on your foot, it really hurts! Those claws dig in and the thing is heavy enough to puncture flesh…trust me. I was stepped on as a teenager; scarred for life!
