GIVE’EM A CLICK ! WHO WANTS SCROTTY LITTLE IMAGES LIKE THESE WHEN YOU CAN HAVE BIG CRISPY HIGH RESOLUTION GALLERY STYLE SMASHERS? ONLY AN IDIOT, THAT’S WHO !

So, as ever, Christmas has been a mixed bag…..’Highs’ and ‘Lows’.

‘ The Lows’ included sitting all the way through a Sarah Jessica Parker movie, (a talent-less harpy with the voice of a screech owl and a face like a whittled brick)… Listening to the Queens speech, which sounded like a half hearted, ill informed and out of touch recommendation that the adopting of some strange form of Quasi-Buddhism will solve all of our personal and National woes… and, last but not least, spoon-feeding my poor demented mother with what looked like nuclear waste, but what hospital staff informed me had once been turkey and gravy….

All things best avoided.

However, ‘The Highs’ have done their best to keep everything balanced.

Waking to a hand made Christmas card from the love of my life, Mrs Shpics. Just a smidgen of romance, some paper, a printer and some felt tip pens and, believe me, there’s no card finer….

Having a crisp and cold Boxing day walk with the aforementioned Love Goddess…burning off the calories from easily the best Christmas day dinner I’ve ever had….Plus, both of us taking cameras and cracking off some piccies…I tell you, It doesn’t get much better !!

First off, a few shots of the late evening Boxing day sun peeking through the fog.

Secondly, a couple of accommodation possibilities for a forthcoming holiday we’re currently considering…We’re getting a bit long in the tooth for tents..Should we go for caravan or cabin? And, if we do go the caravan route, (my personal favourite), should we book the colour or the monochrome? You decide.

Love the second and third images of the evening Boxing Day sun…. As for the caravan, I’d go for the green, even if it does have a bit of a sinister air. Oh, and I’ve now picked up a new word – how scrappy and grotty is scrotty! 😉

Hey George..Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated and I’m glad you like’em…
Believe me though, any accommodation where I can stand upright is miles away better than ‘tenting’…..
Sadly I no longer bend at the hip without howls of pain…
      Happy NY !

      Hey Scillster…
Christmas heightens the goods and lowers the bads…
Happily there was some good stuff with my mom as well…
Her moments of anything approaching clarity are extremely rare at the moment, but … at one point after a festively accoutered nurse had just left her room, my mother turned to me and said “Were those antlers she was wearing?…Doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence does it?….Stupid woman!”
      Priceless….

Your mom must have been a kick! My dad had a 7 year run with Alzheimer’s. I didn’t see him on a regular basis during that time (as we were separated by 2000 miles), but I’m sure there were so many ‘moments’ of assessment/acceptance/relinquishment. ‘Moments’ are incredible teachers. I’m sure you are learning about your mom, and yourself. Steady on, my friend.

Well, since you’ve already decided on the green caravan I suppose my preference for the monochrome cabin is beside the point. Just make sure it has a shower. With water. Oh, and I love the sun peeking through the trees. In color!
