Scarborough…Another place in Yorkshire that’s FAR prettier than it’s name.
We parked up on our way back to the midlands long enough to take a rushed photo-spree around the harbour and to swallow a half loafs worth of fresh crab sandwiches while sat on the beach.
Is there anything better than a gob-full of fresh crab while there’sΒ sand between your toes?
Answers on a postcard please….

Unfortunately I don’t have a postcard, but better than crab sandwiches on the beach is sitting in a harbour restaurant with a freshly caught sea food platter.

Ben,
You are obviously a sophisticated kinda dude….
Sadly the restaurants would not let us in as I was wearing a skin tone backless swimming thong and my wife was ‘au naturel’.
Maybe next time we’ll take some trousers.

Hope my postcard arrives, but sounds pretty darn good!
Like the first stairs the best, great textures.
Cheers, Ron.

I’ll keep my eyes on the letter box…..

(Had the best crab of my life in KL…You’ve got no need to come to Scarborough)

Ahh, didnt try crab yet, i have a prawn addiction π
do you remember where?

Sorry Ron, I’ve no idea what the place was called…But it was open-fronted with about a dozen tiny plastic chairs right by the railway station….AND it had a big placard of a smiling crab.
Your mission, (should you choose to accept it),………

Love those first stairs, texture, light and all….I also had a good chuckle at your mischievous tall story re crab on the sand π

It’s all true………
Amazing what you can get away with in Yorkshire.

If I had one, I’d send a postcard from the wharf at Santa Cruz next to the beach boardwalk. Sand between the toes, crab Louie in a cardboard basket, tiny plastic fork, and sea lions barking away beneath me between the pier supports. Throw in a brown pelican on the railing just in case. π

Now that does sound good…makes Scarborough seem a little under-cooked..
I did see a sea-gull and a three-legged Labrador but that was it for wildlife.

Superb photos Stuart, especially the first. Haven’t had fresh crab for years, used to love cracking those meaty claws π

Thanks David……
Search some out…..somewhere there’s a crab claw with your name on it!

Mallyan Spout’s in Goathland, (well about half a mile away)…been there, done that!
Seriously though, it is lovely up there!
I can well understand why nostalgia might creep in.
