WANT TO KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH THESE! WELL I’LL TELL YA! THEY’RE WAY TOO SMALL! GIVE’EM A CLICK AND THEY’LL BE SO MUCH BIGGER, SO MUCH CRISPER, SO MUCH SEXIER!
GO ON….BE A DEVIL!
So after two posts the real reason for my trip to deepest, darkest Birmingham becomes apparent.
STREET ART! It’s been month’n’months’n’months since I last wandered the Brummie back streets checking out the paint, and I’ve been desperate to see what new pieces might have appeared, maybe also a little anxious about whether any of my favourites are gone for ever. (Remember this is the city that first introduced me to street art and is the home to my all time fave piece…At least I hoped it still was, these things have a habit of disappearing).
First stop was ‘SUKI 10C’ a building I photographed last year. The devilishly attractive chap you can see here is completely new..In fact this one side of the building is totally different to the last time I was here, and, judging by this and subsequent finds, there seems to be a bit of a ‘Bad Tooth’ trend amongst the Brummie can jockeys. Anyone remember the comic character Grimly Fiendish way back in the 1970’s? Our pink faced friend here is his more contemporary double…..I wonder if the artist knows?
Even more dental decay on this super stressed gentleman…He’s another fresh arrival and between you and me, I don’t think he’s quite settled in yet.
BUT…Tooth-wise this is a bad as it gets..
I reckon she’s in a lot of discomfort with those choppers. Doesn’t look at all happy and I gave her a very wide birth on the way to see if My favourite piece had been painted over or had been lost to the elements.
YIPPPEEEEEE!
Still here and not only is there not a bad tooth in sight, but the powers that be have put a yellow line along the curb.
I can see you properly you big orange beauty.
YIPPEEEEEEEE!

Some fantastic things to find when you scrape a cities top layer…
Thanks for popping in.

Syncopated Eyeball
I like that last image too. More of you in it.
Stuart Hyde - shpics
I kind of know what you mean..I’ve shot, (and blogged), it before ….so not really enough to shoot it ‘straight’….
Anyway what do think of the disguise, and can you see the remote release?
Syncopated Eyeball
Haha!

These are stunning, great photography too. Tony

Thank you Tony, and thanks very much for stopping by and commenting it’s great to see you here….
Other than a fairly subtle bit of processing these particular shots are quite ‘Photoshop light’ but, like you, I love to get lost in the layers of what Pshop can offer…
What a tool!

I’d hate to be evangelical, but Photoshop has changed my life. I love doing the work I do, it’s more of a catharsis. Thanks for the comments. Tony

In some ways I feel the same…I’ve always lacked the muscle memory to learn to use a brush or pencil or musical instrument, so a (relatively)simple to use tool that gives an outlet for the imagination and makes it possible to explore if there really is ‘an artist within’ is a godsend…..
Good luck.

Love them.. and especially the orange one.. happy to see it again 😉

It’s much better without the automobile frieze across the front ain’t it?
Glad you like Helen.

I can’t say that I’ve seen anything that elaborate in the States. I wonder if it’s even legal here?
Stuart Hyde - shpics
I don’t think it’s legal anywhere……
I think in a lot of places a blind eye is turned for quality stuff but it’s technically illegal pretty much everywhere.

Great Street Art and I don’t know of anything like that here in my sleepy city. Love the last image best!

Hi Mike…Your ‘like’ finger must be sore..thanks so much for looking through so many of my posts..Really glad you like’em.
All of these are around the ‘Custard’ apart from the Suki 10 C building which is about 500 metres away on the way back into town on Bordesley street.
I can’t get over how much quality street art Brum has got when you scrape the surface.
Thanks so much for looking round.

These are incredible! The photography, brilliant, of course (and yes, I clicked, and Yes, they are gorgeous in a window all to themselves)…but the artists who use the paint…. Wow! Thanks for doing such a great job of showing off the walls of your city.

Some of the street art I’ve found quite literally leaves me speechless…..Some amazingly talented people are using this medium to express themselves.
When I visit any new city it’s become the first thing that I go in search of.
